'Universal' iPod transmitter/charger hits the techwalk
Digital Lifestyle Outfitters has just introduced the TransDock micro, an FM transmitter and charger for the Apple iPod.
The TransDock micro broadcasts the iPod music to your FM radio in your car and supports four programmable station presets. It offers a cool backlit LCD display that shows the frequency. The TransDock micro connects to any available power outlet and charges the iPod battery using its dock connector.
The only problem with this new offering is that it sports side controls which tends to make it awkward to handle while multi-tasking, but the connector is on the end of a 48-inch docking cable that allows you position the iPod wherever you want. You just have to with both hands.
The TransDock Micro features a USB connector, making it possible to charge up an iPod shuffle or other USB-based devices. It offers to allow you to charge it up with certain cell phones as well as the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP).
This is the first offering of the TransDock but watch for later versions. If it catches on look for developers to attempt to make it easier to handle.
