RSS for PSP
Sony added a couple useful features to the latest PSP software update. I mentioned WMA support over at MediaBlab, which I'm hopeful is paving the way for PlaysForSure support down the road (it's currently unprotected WMA only, but it's a start). Vague support for "Copyright protected video data" downloaded directly over the WiFi connection sounds like Sony is finally bowing to pressure to make the on-board browser more useful. The third and possibly most interesting update is native RSS support. There's tons of buzz in the podcasting world about direct download to PSP for podcast fans. That's not a killer feature from where I sit; sure syncing is nice, but it's much easier to transfer what I want from my PC to my PSP because the Memory Stick sizes remain inconvenient. A 1GB Memory Stick fills up fast with all the 15MB audio files in podcast land. On the other hand, getting a daily dose of RocketBoom delivered directly might have legs. In the meantime, I'll stick with using the Sony PSP Media Manager to sync my feeds.
